Confessions of a professional slacker...
You know what I'm really good at? Making plans, dreaming, wishing, and procrastinating. You know what I stink at? Marketing. Sending things out the door. I say I'm going to, I order postcards, I print samples, I even print out labels. And then they sit, and sit. And the inner dialogue begins...
"Oh I'll make it the post office this weekend. Grr, I don't like them anymore. I have better work now. They are so boring. I need to print more samples and do packets instead of postcards. I need to update my mailing list. etc. etc." The excuses are endless.
My goal for the rest of this year is to market consistently. Postcards every 3 months, like clockwork: March, June, September and December.
Here is the latest one ready to go out the door.
May I grow a green wart on the end of my nose if I don't get these in the mailbox this week. Cheer me on, I need to stay on my toes!
I think my inner dialogue is trading notes with your inner dialogue! It's so easy to critique things and think that I can make it just a bit better. So much so that nothing ever gets done. I do this in my "professional" life more so than in my crafty life. Ugh! I wish the gods of completing things will smile on you. And if it works for you, I may have to try that green wart thing on myself!

You can do it! Do you use a calendar? You could write down all the dates for your mail outs a week before you really want them to go out. That way you'll have a cushion of time to get them done. Good luck! :)

These pieces are beautiful! Maybe if you don't think of it as nasty old marketing or brazen old self-promotion but as SHARING! Sharing the beauty you see...like sending bouquets! I'd be thrilled to get one of these beauties myself.

Oh my gosh, I know exactly how you feel - I'm the same way. I try to be organized and it just doesn't seem to happen. I always feel so strange sending out self-promotions - it's all a bit scary really.
You shouldn't worry though because your work is so wonderful and inspiring that you are sending them a little gift! Good luck!
