Well, hello there...

MermaidHere is my fishy surprise.  A mermaid pendant that is going on my Bead Cruise with me!  Oh, isn't she just the cutest?

My March Bead of the Month is a Mermaid's Tale.  And happens to be a mermaid's tail.  So taking a few cues from my bead fairy, she just popped up on my table the other day.

I have her for sale as a kit for you DIY gals.  And of course, the Mermaid's Tale bead is for sale by itself.  They are both on my site now.

I have less than 5 weeks before I'll be off to the Caribbean for some beady fun!  I can not wait to snorkel in the ocean and enjoy 4 days of beading mania.  Life is sweet!

Illustration Friday - Tea

Sushitea_1

Art imitates life.  I was struck with a little inspiration after my lunch today and took an hour to whip up this tiny print.

Reminds me of spring.  But check back tomorrow, because this isn't my fishy surprise.  I've been making all sorts of new things the last few days.  That's a sign that I must be feeling better!

If you love sushi, like I love sushi

SushiOh my gosh, I can not even tell you how badly I've wanted sushi for the last few weeks.  But since I've been sick.  I haven't wanted to go anywhere and the thought of eating anything other than toast or oatmeal has only happened within the last two days.

So today, I went to the store and bought everything I needed to make my own sushi.  I used crab (not the real thing :P), smoked salmon, cucumber, avocado and cream cheese.  Along with rice, of course.  Here is a link to many sushi recipes.  I skipped the nori, I'm not a big fan.  My favorites were the ones that I used thin slices of cucumber to wrap the rice and salmon.  I even had a little wasabi mixed with soy sauce.  And the part that made me laugh, when I was taking my dish to the table, a country song came on, "...looks like we made it."  Oh, it was just like the movies.  Only sad, because that's the highlight of my life at the moment.  Making sushi.  I have another fishy project I've been working on, but you are just going to have to come tomorrow to see that surprise.

Strange fact: my first meal I ever cooked was macaroni and cheese and hot dogs.  Burnt the hot dogs and undercooked the noodles.  Crunchy mac and cheese with black hot dogs.  My poor sister and brother!  I was 12.  My mom is probably laughing right now, because I know she remembers that fiasco!
