A few felted gifts
I thought I should show you my other felted gifts, now that I'm all rested up from the holiday. Hosting Christmas at our house, I find is very draining. Between all the cooking and cleaning, I keep thanking God that we are so blessed to have a house that can accommodate my husbands growing family! (All my gang are in Michigan.)
Speaking of houses, this little squirrel family has been enjoying their crocheted tree home. I'm such a nut, aren't I? I just starting crocheting until it looked like a tree and then added some buttons for leaves. It opens up in the front for the family to snuggle inside. This was for my youngest daughter. The mom has a little apron on and the kids' scarves, made from a striped t-shirt that I've been cutting up. When E. opened the present she was completely silent. I asked her if she liked it and she said, "I just can't believe it's real." Needle felting is a simple process, but very tedious and time consuming. I didn't do nearly as much as I had wanted to. But that's the thing with time, there is never enough to finish all the projects I have planned!
I also wet felted two balls for my baby nephews. After I had felted them into their basic shape, I cut them open, inserted a bell and needle felted it to cover up the hole and to apply the design. Next, I put them in little socks, tied them up and threw them in the washing machine and dryer. They were a hit.
I hope you had a very enjoyable holiday and that you are looking forward to the New Year!

Oh, Heather let me tell you that my mother loved her little candy cane earrings I'd purchased from you for Christmas. LOVED THEM saying: "Oh, Mindy they will go with anything...they are just so sweet." She loved hearing all about your talents, HGTV, SCBWI etc. I really talked you up. Then I told her about the clay you used. And I heard a stiff huff come from her mouth. Lol, her own trials with the clay medium failed once and she never looked at it again! :)
Anyway, sorry to plug up your blog. We love your creations including the felted projects! Those balls and bear are fantastic. Way to go, Happy 2006!
