This week's theme for Illustration Friday is nourishment. I created this illustration for a new Spanish children's magazine a little bit ago. Unfortunately, I just got the news last week that they won't be running the story. Too bad, it was actually a very funny story. And yes, I get paid whether the illustrations are used or not. They gave me a new assignment yesterday, so another fun set of illos are on their way. This had a set of 4 to them, animals are not my favorite subject, so they won't end up in my portfolio. Perhaps the others will find their way into my blog in the future.

Well, even if you don't like the animal subject, I think you did a good job!

I like this mostly because I find your animals very charming, I like their expressions and poses, they tell a story.

I like your animals very much...this topic was a hard one, huh? I am still puzzling over it.

Shame about the story ... this illustration is lovely, there is so much to it. Never mind, their lose. It is a different response to the challenge.

thanks!!! The story was not printed because of something on the authors end, I didn't ask for details. She gave me another assignment with animals, this time orca whales, seals and an octopus. They are fun, even if they aren't my favorite things to draw. I'd much rather illustrator a picture book about a sassy, hip little girl, but that will happen in good time!
nourishment, I love the topics that could go a number of different ways. I like to see what other things pop into illustrators minds, fun to see how we all think so different.
